TERRAiNAV Terms of Service
Last updated: 05/11/2026. These terms apply to the TERRAiNAV app and web app (the “App”), provided by Terrainium Pty. Ltd. ABN 49609527880 (“we”, “us”, “Terrainium”).
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing or using the App you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. What the App does
TERRAiNAV lets you load georeferenced maps (such as GeoPDF and NAVTiler map files) and view your position on them, record tracks, and save and share waypoints and tracks. The App can be used on iOS, Android and in a web browser.
3. Navigation and safety – please read
The App is a navigation aid only. It is not a substitute for a compass, paper maps, training, local knowledge, proper planning or good judgement.
- GPS positions can be inaccurate, delayed or unavailable (for example in canyons, under tree cover, indoors or with a poor signal). Maps you load may be out of date, incomplete or wrongly georeferenced.
- Battery, software faults, a damaged device or loss of signal can stop the App working. Carry backup navigation and emergency equipment, and tell someone your plans.
- The App is not an emergency service and does not contact anyone on your behalf. In an emergency call 000 (or the local emergency number).
- Do not use the App while driving, riding or doing anything that needs your full attention.
- You are solely responsible for your decisions and your safety, and for complying with the law, land-access rules, permits and closures.
4. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own lawful purposes. You must not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or distribute the App except as the law allows. The App’s software, design and branding remain our property or that of our licensors.
5. Your maps and content
- Maps, waypoints, tracks and photos you load or create are stored on your device. You keep your rights in them.
- You confirm you have the right to use any map files you load and that doing so does not infringe anyone’s rights. We do not provide, check or endorse third-party maps.
- We do not back up your data. Deleting the App, clearing browser data or changing devices can permanently delete it. You are responsible for exporting and keeping your own copies.
- If you share or export files, you are responsible for who receives them.
6. Location and privacy
The App uses your device’s location, including in the background while you are recording a track, and may use the camera (for QR codes). Location data is processed on your device. How we collect and use any information (including website and app analytics) is set out in our Privacy Policy.
7. Third-party services
The App may display or use third-party services, including OpenStreetMap map tiles (© OpenStreetMap contributors), your device’s mapping and location services, Apple and Google app stores, and analytics tools. These are provided by others under their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy or conduct.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use the App to break the law, to endanger others, to interfere with the App or its servers, to attempt unauthorised access, or to place unreasonable load on third-party map services.
9. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue the App or any feature at any time, and may update these Terms. Continued use after a change means you accept it. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes.
10. Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any promise that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, error free or suitable for your purpose.
11. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot be excluded. If the App is free, those guarantees may apply differently; where the law allows us to limit our liability to resupplying the App, we do so.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, injury, damage or cost (including loss of data, being lost, delays, or any indirect or consequential loss) arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App or from any inaccuracy in positions or maps. Where the law does not allow this, our total liability is limited to resupplying the App or the cost of resupply. If you are a business user, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms. Clauses that by their nature should continue (including 3, 5, 10, 11, 12 and 15) survive termination.
14. Apple and Google
Where you obtain the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google (as applicable) is not responsible for the App, its support or any claim relating to it. Their store terms also apply.
